Amex: an example of successful pension communication
 
The news that American Express is ceasing employer contributions to the group’s stakeholder pension is not too surprising in the current economic crisis. Indeed, it could well be classed as a prudent business measure where cashflow is tight, ultimately saving the business and jobs.
 
But I wonder how many people are taking time to read beyond the headlines to see that Amex has made a commitment to restart the contributions within 18-months and by no later than 1st January 2011.
 
Unions and employees went through a consultation process with Amex before any decision was taken. See:
