IIWG Report highlights risk and the need for financial education
 
The Insurance Industry Working Group has published a 72 page document which covers a wide range of topics looking towards the future. I’m interested in the report because it looks at financial education in the UK. The document considers whether we should have a financial education tsar to oversee the variety of issues that this remit would potentially cover.
 
Before I read the report though, I searched for the term ‘risk’ which came up 248 times. Communicating an understanding of risk though must be one of the foremost obstacles to overcome when we’re talking about retirement issues.
 
There are different types of risk and few people that I come across have thought about what they are and how these might affect their pension planning. We list eight of the main risk types in our Factsheets (Security and Risk). I’d be interested to know how many you could list? To read more about the IIWG report see:
