Pension help: give credit where it is due
|
It’s good to see the Department for Works and Pensions doing their bit to educate people in retirement. Apparently, every week 2.7 million households benefit from extra cash through Pension Credits. Yesterday the DWP issued a Press Release about this valuable benefit. Did you know, for instance that:
- Claiming Pension Credit is easy: ‘…it can be done over the phone without having to fill in any forms in person.’
- In the same phone call, pensioners '...may also be able to get help with rent and Council Tax costs at the same time.’
- If Pension Credit '...is claimed before 6th October, the claimants could also get up to a year’s backdated Pension Credit.'
