There is an article about pensions written by Norma Cohen for FT.com today which is one of the best that I’ve seen for a long time. You may have read about the effects of quantitative easing on the economy in general, but this feature explains in some detail its effect on pension schemes in the UK.
With many schemes about to start their triennial reviews, the article casts serious concern about the level of scheme solvency – and the assumptions used in calculating the funding position of the pension provision offered by many of our top companies.
