With the current political turmoil pointing towards the very real prospect of a change in government at the next general election, there is an apparent consensus within the pension industry’s ‘movers and shakers’ that more pension reform is on the horizon.
FTAdviser’s article this morning, says: ‘Ros Altmann, independent pensions policy adviser, said pensions reform was a huge task because things had gone wrong for so long…’ adding too that “Personal Accounts will have to be revisited.”
Meanwhile, the report also quotes Rachel Vahey, head of pensions development for Aegon UK, who said “…things could get changed. I believe timescales could change, angles will change, emphasis will change. The question is how substantial the change will be.”
So, my question is: What message will further pension reform send out to an already disillusioned and dare I say, disengaged public? See:
