The rise and fall of pension provision
 
I thought I’d end the week by bringing to your attention a couple of graphs that illustrate the changing face of pension provision in the western world. The first, published in an article in the New York Times shows the steep decline of private sector defined benefit provision in the United States. The second from a research report by Resolution Foundation shows a similar effect in the UK. What interested me though was the lack of growth in active members of defined contribution schemes in Britain. See:
